The Green Light Initiative is the dream of God for First Assembly to plant churches and see new communities of faith created. This dream started in the Fall of 2008, with the goal of planting five new Kingdom communities over a period of three years. The hope was that these communities of faith would have tremendeous impact on the emerging generation. Since then we have sucessfully planted the Kensington Church of Hope [autonomous church plant] in the Calgary community of Kensington, with Pastors Craig and Zac Eagle; the Freedom House Campus at the Calgary Dream Centre, with Pastors Jeff and Angie Fry; The Branch, Canmore Campus with Pastor Jamie Buhler; the Imagine Church [satellite church] located in house churches throughout the city of Calgary, with Pastors Richie and Chelsea Seltzer; and The Assembly [online church] with Pastor Clay Rans.
So as you can see, God is on the move here at First Assembly! We have great love for the emerging generations and we want to thank YOU for partnering with us as we move forward. We believe this to be a great strategy for expanding His Kingdom in the city of Calgary and to the ends of the earth. We invite you to partner with us in this endeavor and give this initiative a "green light"!

Planting Leaves A Legacy: Q&A with Pastor Steve Osmond
Q: What do you mean by "Leaving a Legacy"?
A: When we plant a tree it lives on long after we are gone. Planting churches is similar. If we invest our time, energy and money in planting faith communities, those communities will be ministering, thriving, and making a difference in the world long after we are gone. Almost 90 years ago, a group of faith filled Christ followers believed that it was worth the effort to plant First Assembly. Most of that group are no longer alive, but their investment lives on today as First Assembly still reaches hurting people.
Q: Why are we planting churches?
A: Because it is the single best way to reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ. Recent studies show clearly that the majority of people who become Christ followers, do so through churches that are three years and younger and under 100 people. We have found this to be true in our church plants as well, with stories of conversions and life transformations taking place in Freedom House, the Branch, and Kensington Church of Hope.
