MISSION CANADA

What Is Mission Canada?

We are committed to be a strong local church that can affect change in our community and our nation.  We partner with ministries that reach to the greater areas of need in our country.

  • Quebec: Less than 2% of Quebec's population attend an evangelical church or profess faith in Christ.
  • Over 1.5 million students attend post-secondary campuses fewer than 50,000 are connected with evangelical campus group.  A majority of young adults drop out of church after high-school.
  • Over 200,000 newcomers arrive in Canada annually, the vast majority from non-Christian nations most do not know Jesus personally.
  • Canada's Aboriginal community faces massive spiritual, physical and social challenges - yet is under-served by the church.
  • Entire demographic groups of Canadians who live in the urban areas of the city are relatively unreached by the church.
  • Most Canadians claim to be "Christian" but church attendance is at an all-time low.

In the face of these challenging realities, local ministries must be stronger and influential...  and new ministries are needed to broaden the scope of the proclamation of God's love and saving grace.  In addition to our Green Light Initiative, we are striving to meet these needs by partnering with the following ministries.

CALGARY DREAM CENTRE - Located on MacLeod Trail, the CDC has a vision to see mercy and compassion extended to the disadvantaged of the City of Calgary.  To help people to restore Dignity, Discover Destiny, and realize their Dreams. This is accomplished by engaging people in life management skill training, career skills development, spiritual care and integration into society as productive citizens.

Ed & Marci Weiss, REACH OUT YOUTH MINISTRY - Ed and Marci started this ministry because they realized that there were no Christian ministries mobilizing local churches to reach the needs of the 15,000 post secondary students in the Kelowna area. God has led them to reach out to this student population. Over the past year they have opened “The House” for students to attend a Sunday night service and Ed has been working with and mentoring youth workers in the area.

Kelly Johnson, CAMPUS MINISTRIES AT U of C - Campus Ministry exists to form student communities that bring transformation to not only the students that are directly involved, but transformation to the entire campus in which the community is  established. They aim to equip, educate, and edify Christian  students, and release them to be the hands and feet of Christ on campus.

Marie Grabek, CONDO MINISTRY - Three years ago Marie launched a church in her condo complex, birthed from a simple thought "Why don't you pastor the space you are going to live in?" Her goal is to take people from wherever they are at on their journey of faith and lead them into a personal, intimate relationship with Him. Through Sunday services in the party room, to holding an Alpha course, Marie is a missionary living amongst the people and doing life with them.
