MISSIONS VISION & GOALS

ALL OF OUR MISSIONS EFFORTS GO TOWARDS ONE OF THESE THREE AREAS:

1. Reaching the Unreached

We believe God commanded His disciples to go to every nation and every people. Even in today's global village, there are still areas of the world and people groups who have never heard of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Romans 10:14 says "But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven't heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it?"

2. HIV/AIDS

This global pandemic is an overwhelming problem, leaving millions vulnerable and orphaned. This disease brings disaster to nations, communities and families. As a church, we want to play our part in the solution to this global crisis. Through supporting medical work to those sick and dying, providing education, or by helping care for orphans, we want to be an extension of the God who brings healing. "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling." (Psalm 68:5)

3. Children-at-Risk

There are millions of children around the world that lack parental protection, access to education, adequate medical care, and daily food security. These children are at risk to sexual exploitation, disease and death, and have little hope for a better future. As a church, we want to stand in the gap for the most vulnerable. Jeremiah 22:16 says "He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know Me?"

UPCOMING EVENTS

Call + Response

Date & Time: Sunday, October 3 @ 7:00pm at First Assembly
Cost: Free Admission

CALL+RESPONSE is a first of its kind feature documentary film that reveals the world's 27 million dirtiest secrets: there are more slaves today than ever before in human history. CALL+RESPONSE goes deep undercover where slavery is thriving from the child brothels of Cambodia to the slave brick kilns of rural India to reveal that in 2009, Slave Traders made more money than Google, Nike and Starbucks combined.

Music is part of the movement against human slavery. Dr. Cornel West connects the music of the American slave fields to the popular music we listen to today, and offers this connection as a rallying cry for the modern abolitionist movement currently brewing.  For more info, go to www.callandresponse.com

Watoto - Restore Tour

Sunday, November 7th @ 7:00pm at First Assembly

Watoto is excited to bring the Restore Tour to Calgary.  The team is made up of former child soldiers along with children that have been affected by the war in Northern Uganda. For 20 years the Lord's Resistance Army waged a ruthless civil war against the people of Gulu District.  Their tactics were particularly brutal as they abducted and used children to enhance the strength of their army and continually brought terror to these communities by mutilating and killing men, women and children.  The war is now over and there is a desire in Gulu to change a story of despair to a legacy of hope, healing and restoration.

Join with the children as they share their incredible stories of healing, forgiveness, and transformation.  It is a free concert, with a love offering taken.  We are in need of host families, that will be willing to have 2 children come and stay in their home for 2 nights.  Please contact Sara @ (403) 695-1100 if you wish to sign up to host.
