Monday's Moment - December 7

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

What part does busy-ness play in your life? For some people being busy energizes them, while for others they find it absolutely exhausting. For me I find it all consuming – and in that I neglect the things that truly matter to me. For many young Mom’s your children consume most of your time and energy. What little you have left at the end of the day is then spent on your hubby and then there is usually a tiny portion if any left for yourself. Did you notice I totally made no mention of God in that whole breakdown?

With the Christmas season upon us things usually rev up and we find ourselves going from morning to evening day after day without stopping. Things to do, places to go, people to see …. Then we get home and crash into bed only to get up the next day and start all over again. By the time Christmas day gets here we can’t wait for the day to end. Let’s stop for a moment and ask ourselves what are the top three things that really, truly matter to us within the Christmas season?

Our scripture verse speaks to us of our Lord Jesus Christ, a Son – the only Son of God being given to us. The Gift of God given to us for our redemption (release, deliverance, liberation) and the government will be upon His shoulders. Jesus taking the old order of things and making them new. No longer was man’s law or the Jewish law going to be the way things would be governed, but Jesus introduced the New Covenant, the covenant of grace and mercy. His name shall be called Wonderful (magnificent, breathtaking, amazing, astonishing, brilliant) Counselor; (our Counselor is the One who exposes areas in our heart to rid us of the things that are not under His Lordship. He will also instruct us). Mighty God (powerful, strong) Everlasting Father (as a Father, the One who nurtures us). Prince of Peace (Jesus not only purchased our peace, He protects our peace).

God has given to us His only Son – our receiving and perceiving His Son should be our number one. Number two is aligning ourselves with His Government. The law of love is God’s fist command: loving God and loving others. Our families, our friends and others. Being open to the Counselor searching our hearts. Are we pursuing the things of this world – are we busying ourselves to get affirmation and acceptance from man, or are we running from hurts and heartaches within that we don’t want to address. The Prince of Peace so longs for us to be at peace with Him and peace with ourselves. In that will we find true peace for our lives – body, soul and spirit.

Let’s not become so busy that we miss the gift God has given us. He loves us so much and He longs to be our Lover. Father thank You for the gift of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We commit ourselves into Your hands this Christmas season that we may behold and embrace the Gift and the Gift Giver. We love You Lord and we rest secure in You in Jesus Name Amen.

We love you!
