“…But be transformed by the renewing of your minds” - A New Tuesdays Treasure from Sydney Maclean

Well hello, I feel like I am re-connecting with a Friend whom I haven’t heard from in a while. You might remember me as being “Monday’s Moment”, but in the shift of life Monday’s are full so we are now “Tuesday’s Treasure.”

I trust you all had a peaceful summer and caught up on some much needed free time. I always think our summers are just way too short – it happens to be my favorite season.  But here it is over and done, and Fall has happened upon us.  So in light of that of thought, I want to share with you what the LORD has laid on my heart for us in this season.

Many of you journeyed though “Breaking Free” with me last spring, and discovered a new freedom in our walk with Christ Jesus.  AMAZING – that’s all I can say!  Well the LORD has been speaking to me al [...]

Wow!  We're just about to conclude our week in Kenya!  We fly off to Dar es Salaam tomorrow.   What a week we just had, non-stop action.  Since I last wrote, we were able to visit a children's home called "Christ Our Refuge" for children from abusive families or street kids.  What a place.  We were able to buy paint and help paint their classrooms & benches and also we bought food to make them lunch, that had a special treat of beef included.  We wish we could have spent more time there and had more funds to help them out.  They are in desperate need of mattresses to put on the bunk beds and for mosquito netting.  That evening we went back to Dandora church to minister at the youth service.  We were able to teach them a few Tehillah so [...]

Hey all!   Greetings from Nairobi!  We arrived late on Monday night after 24 hours of travel, very sad to discover that it is cold season here. Still cold here is still warm compared to Calgary.   Tuesday was spend doing a bit of orientation and combating jet lag and joining in at the chapel service with the students who attend Pan African Christian University, where we are staying.   Wednesday was amazing!  We spent the morning at Happy Life Children's Home, a home for abandoned babies.  We took a tour of the home where over 55 babies live ranging from 1 week old to 8 years old.  When we got to the nursery, full of cribs with babies staring at us with big brown eyes, reaching out their little hands, we all disolved into lit [...]

Prophetic Word from TJ Green for Tehillah Monday

by kwaara | 2011-06-13 11:36:23

God gave me a word   just a short word that Tehillah will be a tourch barrier for revival in Alberta and you've never stopped being one. I was talking to Chad last night and we feel that this move of God is all about sustainablity. That its not just a flash in the pan explosion but your equiping revivalist to live a lifestyle of fire and to be marked as burning ones for the rest of the days. Long after the holy ghost goosebumps are gone you guys will continue to produce eternal fruit. I've told God again and again that I want to be there when it happens. I believe that God told me to come last night to witness a move of His spirit.

From Slavery To Sonship

by awood | 2011-05-09 17:57:40

Excerpts From the Article "From Slavery To Sonship" by Jack and Trisha Frost    Often within the church, it is difficult to tell whether a person walks in the heart attitude of an orphan or a son (this includes daughters). Outwardly, a person may have a pattern of service, sacrifice, discipline, and apparent loyalty, but you do not know what is inside a person until he or she gets bumped. Then the attitude of the heart overflows at a time when they feel they are not getting the recognition or favor they deserve.   Somehow the difference lies in the motives and intentions of the heart.

The orphan spirit causes one to live life as if he does not have a safe and secure place in the Father’s heart. He feels he has no place of affirmation, protection, comfort, belonging, or affection. Self-oriented, lonely, and inwardly isolated, he has no one from whom to draw Godly inheritance. Therefore, he has to strive, achieve, compete, and earn everything he gets in life. It e [...]

"The One Who Calls You Is Faithful" - Tara Yoo

by awood | 2011-03-15 13:58:15

For the past few months, I suffered from depression. I let every lie that satan could have  possibly conjured, to pierce my heart and break my soul. Overwhelming feelings of insecurity, fear, anxiety, being unworthy dictated my life. The way that I lived, the way that I viewed myself and others...  All the while, I was a Christian. I knew God, I knew Jesus, I had gone to church all my life, I knew the stories in the bible... But why was it so hard to focus? I was a sunday school teacher (ironically), sometimes in the worship team... I felt this mask of duality come and sweep over. I did not want to be transparent to my church because of the difficulties my church had gone through with a church plant, and trying to revive our ministries in finding a new pastor. People were discouraged, and all of a sudden one of their committed members was going through depression? I couldn’t believe that they would have accepted it very well.   For months, I engulfed myself into a world of sin. Feedin [...]

Sons & Daughters of the King

by awood | 2011-02-07 14:46:31

"In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves." Ephesians 1:5-6   As we start a new theme at Tehillah this month, all about being sons and daughters of the King, I am reminded of a song that I loved as a child. It is a song I learned from my dad and have known by heart since I was four. Somehow it has always been a reminder to me of who I am: a daughter of God, loved and precious in His sight.
Little children, little children
who love their redeemer
are the jewels, precious jewels
His loved and His own.

Like the stars of the morning
His bright crown adorning
They will shine in their beauty
Bright gems for his crown   Do you know that you are a jewel to God? He loves us with such a passionate love that it is beyond our understanding.   Sometimes we are keenly aware [...]

Monday's Moment - January 24, 2011

by awood | 2011-02-05 11:00:50

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
 2 Corinthians 3:17

Well here we are.   2011 is under way and we have embarked on yet another amazing study of the Word of God.  "Breaking Free" is a study about finding freedom in Christ.  Having the chains of bondage broken off and stepping into our God given, Holy Spirit driven destiny.

After completing the first week of our study we discovered that even though we are faithful to God, we can still be attacked by the enemy.  We can be found in bondage in certain areas of our lives. If we have been victimized or traumatized in any stage of our life, that experience can hold us captive.  We can be overcome with fear or have our minds filled with the lies of the accuser and we cannot seem to stop or take captive their presence within our thoughts.  Christ came to set the captive free, no matter what kind of yoke may be binding them.  He came to bind up th [...]

Canadian impact on battling AIDS ..... a lifeline to Malawi

by awood | 2011-02-05 11:00:50

Written by Dr Chris Brooks For The Calgary Herald December 1, 2010    Eight o'clock on a Monday morning and just about time for the white Azungu doctor to speak to the assembled throng. Another hot and dripping day coming up and already the chipped cement benches are crowded with a jostling, murmuring mass of sweating people.
Those who can't find space inside under the tin roof sit on the dusty ground outside the doors, hoping for a chance to slip inside when the guard isn't looking. Crying babies are nursed, while the sick, the hungry and the pregnant wait patiently for their turn to approach the registration desk and get a number.
I stand in the corner with my good friend and nurse, Sister Violet, and together we survey the scene. It is a familiar one, a hot and dusty mass of humanity. We try making a few spot diagnoses from a distance. That kid on the bench clearly has malaria, and that one over there is badly malnourished. J [...]
